Just days from the start of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, the Open Minds series of public talks resumes January 30 with ‘Running for Life: The Hazards and Benefits of Long-distance Running and Other Extreme Pursuits’. In this installment, panelists will discuss extreme sports and the motivations of those who participate in them.

Joining the panel are Dr. Kim Dorsch, Professor of Sport and Exercise Psychology at the University of Regina, Dr. Liz Harrison, Associate Dean of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan, and Stacey Shand, a Regina-based ultra-marathoner, ultra-triathlete and extreme racer.

The Open Minds series, which brings academics and members of the community together to debate hot button issues, aims to foster a lively exchange of ideas – all are welcome to come and share their thoughts on this exciting hot topic. Refreshments provided.
