Five University of Regina students are spending much of March 10 - 15 outside as part of 5 Days for the Homeless, the fifth annual national campaign to create awareness and raise funds for the homeless.

The five - Lynn Barber, Greg Duck, Liam McKinnon, Christina Miles and Brooke Paterson – will be camped outside the main entrance of the Riddell Centre using cardboard boxes and sleeping bags to try to keep warm overnight. During the five days the students will be collecting monetary donations, clothes, and non-perishable food donations for Carmichael Outreach. Donations are also being accepted by other students inside the Riddell Centre.

The event is organized by the Hill Business Students Society. Several related fundraising events are planned during the week, and on March 13 Andrew Gaudes, the dean of the Faculty of Business Administration will join the students for a night under the stars.

Students from 20 universities across Canada are taking part in 5 Days for the Homeless. Since the national campaign was launched in 2008, more than $985,000 for charitable organizations across Canada has been raised.
