The half-hour program University Matters is heard on Regina’s community station, CJTR 91.3 FM, every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. Podcasts of all episodes are available on the Communications, Marketing and Alumni site at http://www.uregina.ca/external/communications/podcasts/index.html

The program is produced by Jay Branch and Dale Johnson, staff members in the University of Regina’s External Relations department.

“As a publicly funded institution, the University of Regina has a responsibility to engage with the wider community, share our work, and contribute to the cultural, social and economic life of our province,” says University President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vianne Timmons. “This radio show is another way for people in our community to become more aware of all of the great things that are taking place at our university – things that stand to make a difference in their lives, but which they might not otherwise know about.”

Segments so far have included interviews with leaders President Vianne Timmons, Vice-Presidents Tom Chase and David Malloy; faculty members such as professors Peter Leavitt, James McNinch and Pauline Minevich; staff including Yolanda Hansen, Kerrie Strathey and Bruce Walsh; and students Adam Dyck, Sydney Gossard and Mark Jessop. The program also covers news conferences, events and celebrations, including the recent Aboriginal Youth Leadership forum, Chinese New Year, and the 5 Days for the Homeless wrap up.

“This program is a welcome addition to our schedule,” explains Keith Colhoun, General Manager of CJTR. “Our slogan is ‘Regina Community Radio’ – and we’re pleased to work in co-operation with the university to get this informative program on the air, so people can hear stories about the University of Regina that they won’t hear anywhere else.”
