The lecture series 1914: A Turning Point in History and Culture - Centenary Reflections at the University of Regina returns this fall with four events planned to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.

Sponsored by the Faculties of Arts and Fine Arts, the Dr. John Archer Library, the Humanities Research Institute, and the Department of History, this lecture series features an interdisciplinary team of scholars who will discuss how the Great War defined and shaped the twentieth century.

The first lecture will examine the ‘Impact of the Great War on Films and Comics’.  Guest speakers include Dr. Sylvain Rheault from the French Department who will explore ‘The Great War as Rupture in Anti-Heroic Comics’ and Dr. Christina Stojanova from the Department of Film Studies who will discuss ‘The Great War and Film Propaganda’.

All are welcome to attend the lectures and admission is free. Free parking has been arranged in lot 3M for all lectures held at the University of Regina.
