For the second year in a row, former Regina Ram Brett Jones has won a Canadian Football League Player Award.

Jones, a centre with the Calgary Stampeders, was recently named the CFL’s most outstanding offensive linemen at an awards banquet in Vancouver. Last year, Jones was named the CFL’s top rookie – and another former Ram, Saskatchewan Roughriders guard Brendon LaBatte, was named the CFL’s most outstanding offensive lineman.

Jones is in Vancouver for the Grey Cup game, where the Stampeders will take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The Stampeders have a few University of Regina connections. Both wide receiver-slotback Chris Bauman and Defensive Assistant Coach, Marc Mueller are former Rams.

They are the latest of more than 50 Rams who have gone on to the professional football ranks in the CFL and NFL. The club has also produced leading businessmen, tradesmen, teachers, lawyers and doctors.

Earlier this year, Jon Ryan became the first former Ram to be on a Superbowl championship team, when the Seattle Seahawks won the NFL title.
