The University of Regina's 2014 United Way Campaign, which raised $100,089.40, was recently awarded the Greystone Leadership Award at the Spirit Awards Luncheon.  The award recognizes organizations, campaigns, teams and individuals who achieve outstanding results in their United Way campaigns and is presented to the workplace that runs the most effective program for generating personal gifts of $1,000 or more.

“The University runs a well organized and effective Leadership focus campaign year after year,” says Joanne Grant, CEO of the Regina United Way. “Over half the employee gifts raised from the U of R are from Leadership level donors. The University sets an example for other workplaces and organizations to follow in its commitment to charitable giving and to our community.”

In total, the 2014 United Way campaign raised more than $4 million to support community based organizations that deliver services in Regina.

The University’s United Way co-chairs were Pat Patton and Bruce Anderson. The team members were Devon Anderson, Shayla Bonhomme, Brian Christie, Joanne Kozlowski, Sheila Leach, Murray Westerlund, Cheryl White, and Wendy Whitebear.
“One of the values of the University of Regina is community and social responsibility and we would like to extend a huge thank you to the students, staff and faculty that have exhibited this core value by supporting this great cause,” says Patton.

“Thank you as well to the many canvassers across campus. Your efforts within your departments and faculties are greatly appreciated,” added Anderson.
Participating in the United Way campaign each year is a practical expression of the commitment to our communities priority identified in the University’s Strategic Plan.
