Crescent Point Energy donates $100,000 to the Faculty of Engineering

Today, the University of Regina’s Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science celebrated a gift from Crescent Point Energy – an oil and gas company – as they opened a lab on campus called the Crescent Point Energy Undergraduate Petroleum Laboratory.

Crescent Point Energy donated $100,000 worth of engineering equipment to the Faculty.

"The Faculty is pleased to receive this support at a time of record enrolment in our Petroleum Systems Engineering program,” says Dr. Esam Hussein, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Regina. “This gift will enable us to provide state-of-art hands-on training for our students and provide Crescent Point Energy and other oil producing companies access to highly-qualified engineers.”

Crescent Point Energy is very passionate about supporting the communities in which they live in, work, and operate.

“We’re very happy to make this donation to the petroleum engineering lab and to support the engineering faculty,” said Ryan Gritzfeldt, Vice-President, Engineering and Business Development East of Crescent Point Energy. “As a University of Regina graduate and having worked in the oil and gas industry for over 15 years, I know how important a good education including practical application is to prepare students for entering the workforce. We hope the engineering students enjoy hands-on learning with this fantastic new equipment.”

The Petroleum Systems Engineering  undergraduate program at the University of Regina teaches evaluation, design, and management of technologies used in evaluating reserves and in oil and gas production and treatment. Advanced computer utilization and automation are also integrated into the program.
