University hosts 2014 Inspiring Leadership Forum

The University of Regina is hosting the fifth annual Inspiring Leadership Forum: Facing Adversity today at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina.

Keynote speakers Arianna Huffington, Amanda Lindhout and Malini Chib will share stories of overcoming their personal and professional challenges with more than 500 conference participants.

Arianna Huffington
Arianna Huffington is the chair, president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group whose Pulitzer winning Huffington Post is now one of the 50 most frequented Internet destinations. In 2011, Huffington was named to TIME magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people. She is also a nationally syndicated columnist and the author of 13 books.

Amanda Lindhout
Amanda Lindhout is a humanitarian, public speaker, writer and activist, as well as the founder and executive director of The Global Enrichment Foundation. Despite being held for ransom for 15 months in war-torn Somalia she continues her advocacy on behalf of Somalia’s most vulnerable. Her memoir, A House in the Sky, was published in 2013.

Malini Chib
Malini Chib defied her medical condition to become an activist, academic, lecturer, writer and researcher. She was the first disabled person from India to earn two master’s degrees from the University of London and is the CEO and a trustee of Able Disable All People Together (ADAPT), a non-governmental organization working for neuro-muscular and developmental disabilities in India.

The sold-out event also features a Saskatchewan Leaders Panel, moderated by the Executive Director of the Government of Saskatchewan Status of Women Office, Pat Faulconbridge. Panelists include Canadian Senator, Denise Batters, Saskatoon’s “Best Young Activist” in Planet S magazine, Erica Lee, and Zarqa Nawaz, writer, documentarian, and creator of Little Mosque on the Prairie.
