Feasibility of a new dining hall facility studied

During consultations on the 2016 Campus Master Plan, the need for a dining hall facility was consistently raised.

“The opening of Kisik Towers has resulted in a large increase in the number of students living on campus, creating the opportunity to provide them with expanded services including more diverse dining options,” says Dave Button, Associate Vice-President Administration.

In order to assess the business case for a new dining hall facility a public request for proposals (RFP) was issued in November 2015.  CITE360studio, a Regina architectural firm was awarded the contract.

The consulting team will work with a University Advisory Committee to consult with key stakeholders to examine options for a new dining hall facility and produce a final report and recommendations by June 2016.

“The development of this business case does not mean that a new dining hall will be built,” says Button.  “What it will do is provide us with the information we need to determine whether such a facility is financially viable and would it help advance some or all of our strategic priorities for student success, research impact, commitment to our communities, Indigenization and sustainability.”
