Rather than endlessly circling the campus for those elusive prime parking spots, students now have the option of parking just a bit further away and saving 30 per cent.  The U of R's Green Zone is the latest addition to student parking options and has the added benefit of reducing car emissions.

"Some students were spending up to 20 minutes circling the campus, so we opened up five rows of an under-utilized lot" says Pauline Tessier, Director, Finance, Administration, and Parking and Transportation Services. "To acknowledge that the lot is bit of a hike from campus, we're offering Green Zone parking at a rate 30 per cent less than other ‘M’ parking spots. We also anticipate that this move will mean the elimination of emissions from about 200 cars over the course of an academic year."

An added bonus? Green Zone permit holders can park in any "M" lot after 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
