If you are having the post-holiday blues, some help is on the way.

The public is invited to take part in a day-long Wellbeing Workshop hosted by the U of R’s Psychology Training Clinic, on Saturday, January 13.

The workshop will introduce cognitive behavioural strategies for managing stress and anxiety.

“There are strategies that can help people improve their overall wellbeing,” says Natasha Gallant who along with fellow Doctoral student in Clinical Psychology Julia Mason, will lead the workshop.

“We will cover topics including understanding stress and anxiety, developing a balanced outlook on life, and implementing effective self-care strategies.”

Gallant and Mason are working under the supervision of Dr. Heather Hadjistravropoulos, Professor of Psychology and Dr. Bridgett Klest, Associate Professor of Psychology.

The session includes demonstrations, group activities, and take-home resources.

The clinic will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on campus. The cost is $10.

The Training Clinic is also offering individual sessions through April 2018 for people experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depression or life stressors.

“Cognitive behavioural therapy is a short-term structured therapy. Clients learn to identify and modify thoughts, behaviours, and or emotions,” says Mason. “We’re pleased to offer this service to people on and off campus.”

There is a $20 charge for each individual therapy session and no fee for students.
