This collection contains monthly messages from the President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Regina.

Dr. Timmons officially began her role as seventh President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Regina on September 1, 2008.

Dr. Timmons obtained her PhD in Education Psychology in 1993 from the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta. She specialized in rehabilitation, with a thesis titled "Quality of Life of Children with Mental Handicaps."

Dr. Timmons' research is focused in the area of education with a particular emphasis on literacy and learning and their roles in establishing healthy vibrant communities. She has a history of community engagement and was lead investigator of a three-year collaborative research project looking at six rural communities’ need to address the issues their children are facing. The research has been published in academic journals and presented at conferences, as well as in the 2008 book Voice of the Community, featuring the work of social documentary photographer Carlos Reyes-Manzo.

In addition, Dr. Timmons' research experience has focused in areas such as inclusive practices for children with special needs and family literacy.

Active in the academic community internationally, nationally and regionally, Dr. Timmons served six years on the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), is President- Elect of the International Association of the Scientific Study on Intellectual Disability (IASSID) and is Chair Elect of the Canadian Bureau of International Education (CBIE). She is also a member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) Standing Advisory Committee on Educational Issues.

In Regina and the region, Dr. Timmons is contributing as a member of the Board of Directors for Communities of Tomorrow, the Regina Regional Economic Development Authority, and Wascana Centre Authority. She is Honorary President of the University of Regina Women’s Club, the Canadian Club of Regina and Canadian Federation of University Women – Regina.

Dr. Timmons has been honoured with a scholarship named after her at the University of Prince Edward Island, named one of the most powerful women in Canada in 2008 and one of the 10 most influential women in Saskatchewan in 2009.
