Canada's relationship with Indigenous peoples and its contemporary significance was the subject of the Globe Theatre production Making Treaty 4 (MT4) this spring. The play is not a historical reenactment but a conceptual performance of events in the lives of Indigenous peoples in the Treaty 4 area from the time of creation to the present. It explores some of history and impacts of colonialism on Indigenous peoples including the loss of buffalo, spread of disease, creation of reserves, residential schools, 60s Scoop, and Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls.
