International Human Rights Day is observed every year on December 10, the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 1948. The UDHR proclaims the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as humans - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. The University of Regina sign is lit yellow to honour this occasion and to raise awareness for the human rights violations that exist across the world today.en_US
