Abstract

From Up North is a documentary featuring a deeply personal and moving account of Elder Noel Starblanket and his painful experiences attending the Qu’Appelle Indian Residential School in Lebret, Saskatchewan. Starblanket is the University’s Knowledge Keeper, providing support for students at the Aboriginal Student Centre and the campus at large. The short documentary is written and directed by Regina filmmaker Trudy Stewart who is from the Flying Dust First Nation in Saskatchewan and a U of R Alumni who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Video production.
