With the snow now virtually gone it is finally beginning to look like spring.
Now comes the fun part – spring cleanup.
Campus Beautification Day is Tuesday, May 8 from 10:00 a.m. to noon, followed by a complimentary lunch.
“I encourage everyone to participate in this year’s event, and to invite your colleagues to join you,” says President Dr. Vianne Timmons. “Campus Beautification Day is a fun way to get outdoors for some fresh air and light exercise.”

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and other members of the community will remove debris, spread mulch and do other light clean-up tasks around the buildings. While a limited number of rakes and brooms will be provided by organizers, volunteers are asked to bring their own garden equipment.
People are also encouraged to pre-register.
“We would like to get as many people as possible to come out,” says Pat Patton, co-chair of the Campus Beautification Day committee and Director, Security and Operations at the U of R. “Not only is this good for the aesthetics of our campus but it gives us a chance to meet people from all across campus, working towards a common goal of keeping our campus beautiful.”
Those who pre-register will be entered in prize draws, including a dinner for eight in your home (catered by Chartwells - valued at $500) and an assortment of prizes provided by Coke.
The cleanup will take place across the main campus as well as Campion and Luther Colleges and First Nations University of Canada. Registrants have the choice of which area they want to help with the cleanup.
